The Zen Center Johanneshof
The Zen Center Johanneshof is dedicated to the teaching and practice of meditation, mindfulness, wisdom and compassion. We follow a monastic daily routine that begins every morning with zazen (quiet sitting meditation) and ends in the evening with zazen.
We offer different events: social weekend seminars, meditation weeks (sesshin), seminars with a focus on psychological aspects, communication (mindful cooperation), yoga, Feldenkrais and other bodywork methods. From mid-September to mid-December our 90-day practice period takes place. The Zen events will be led by Zentatsu Baker Roshi, Ikyo Ottmar Angel Roshi and Paul Ryuten Rosenblum Roshi. The seminars in psychology and bodywork are taught by longtime sangha members.
Villa Unspunnen
Nestled amid a wonderful landscape, at the edge of the old heart of the village of Wilderswil, you will find this art nouveau villa and seminar centre. It is situated in parkland surrounded by mighty trees, a place of tranquillity, a place of connecting, a place to inspire. Villa Unspunnen offers space for contemplation and quiet, for interfaith dialogue, solidarity and active learning. Our courses and retreats aim to help people to become human in a conscious way, rooted in Prior Unity.
Wilderswil, a place that has retained its original village character, is situated near to Interlaken, in the direction of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, and is easy to reach by train and bus, as well as by car. This well-serviced village is an ideal starting point for walks as well as summer and winter sports in the immediate vicinity. To the south rise the majestic, ever-white peaks of the Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau, and over to the east the mountains and clouds are reflected in the turquoise-blue of Lake Brienz.
