Embodied Life™ Johanneshof Public Retreat

Herrischried, Germany (Zen Center Johanneshof)

"Returning to Essence and the Ground of Being"

Times - begins Thursday at 15:00, retreat ends Sunday at 12:15, lunch ends at 14:00

Join Russell and Linda at the serene Johanneshof Zen Center. This is a Public retreat so all are invited.

This work stands on three legs: 1) Embodied Meditation - sitting and walking meditation, 2) Embodied Movement - Feldenkrais Method and original standing movements, 3) Embodied Inquiry- which includes various awareness practices based in Focusing, Non-Violent Communication and deep listening.

The Embodied Life teachings are a path of Awareness and Loving-Kindness, which are seen as the most essential qualities for human beings. Moving from habitual patterns of fear to a natural openness to and celebration of life - Fear to Love as our basic operating principle - is the direction of this study.

This potent retreat is of interest to both those experienced in these practices as well as those who are completely new. Each retreat is unique, changed by the presence of the people in the room. In this way, each person has their most important questions addressed. Most people find the retreats both joyful, with much humor, as well as deeply moving and even transformative.

The Zen Center Johanneshof

The Zen Center Johanneshof is dedicated to the teaching and practice of meditation, mindfulness, wisdom and compassion. We follow a monastic daily routine that begins every morning with zazen (quiet sitting meditation) and ends in the evening with zazen.

We offer different events: social weekend seminars, meditation weeks (sesshin), seminars with a focus on psychological aspects, communication (mindful cooperation), yoga, Feldenkrais and other bodywork methods. From mid-September to mid-December our 90-day practice period takes place. The Zen events will be led by Zentatsu Baker Roshi, Ikyo Ottmar Angel Roshi and Paul Ryuten Rosenblum Roshi. The seminars in psychology and bodywork are taught by longtime sangha members.

In the Psychology category, we offer events on three different topics: communication and attentive togetherness; psychological aspects of Zen practice; and systemic constellation work. We explore the respective topics as partial aspects of Zen practice. All events are led by longtime Sangha members and are suitable for both new and experienced practitioners.
