Deepening into Gratitude and Forgiveness

With Russell and Linda Delman

In all Embodied Life retreats we work with three main practices: sitting and walking meditation, Feldenkrais® and Standing movements. Guided Awareness Inquires. The meditation is based on the Zen practice of "just siting", the movement lessons are gentle, brilliant explorations of "Awareness Through Movement"®, based on the work of Moshe Feldenkrais and Guided Inquiry which includes a variety of awareness practices based in the focusing work of Eugene Gendlin.

Gratitude

Cultivating the Field of Gratitude is an essential practice in the Embodied Life teachings.

"If the only prayer you said in your whole life was 'thank you', that would suffice"
-Meister Eckhart

When we pay attention, we might notice that each day offers many touching moments that can be experienced and re-experienced, creating a neutral network for gratitude. Many of us have had a special moment memory that we re-lived over and over in our lives, and often it can become more and more life-giving. This life-giving quality comes from how we receive our life moments.

Gratitude is the simplest, most reliable way to invite positivity into our hearts. The life and health giving effects of gratitude are inestimable.

Forgiveness

"Forgiveness is choosing love. It is the first skill of self-giving love"
-Mahatma Gandhi

"Forgiveness heals the World. To understand all is to forgive all" -AnonymousForgiveness of self and others is often the key ingredient for letting go of "unfinished business" that we are carrying from the past. Forgiveness heals all parties and brings goodness into the world. Sometimes forgiveness requires steps and stages, sometimes it can be sudden. Deep, warm-hearted listening can never be forced, it must be invited. Forgiveness comes from a heart that is opening. Forgiveness is a strong yet tender act that leads to freedom.

We will experience practices that invite this capacity so that we can go forward with a lightened, more open heart.

We gather Thursday evening after dinner. Each day begins with meditation followed by breakfast and a break. We practice silence during this time. There are morning and afternoon sessions, which consist of movement lessons, talks and other explorations to support your practice. Ample breaks are provided for rest, reading, walks and contemplation. An evening meditation completes each day. The retreat concludes with lunch on Sunday.

Please join us for a restorative and, possibly, transformative weekend...Russell and Linda

The Johannes Schlöessl Pallottiner Retreat Center

The Johannes Schlöessl Retreat center is located on a high plateau overlooking the city of Salzburg. There are nature trails and quiet strolls to be taken at breaks. There is a deep sense of quiet and simplicity and as it is a monestary, we suggest modesty in our dress and manner.
